First things first. Look at the photographers work. Seriously, most can talk their way through a consultation fairly well. And that is great, BUT first make sure they can provide images you like!
And after you find a photographer that produces images you like, talk to them! If they don't offer a consultation, that can be a red flag. Make sure you like that person or in our case, team of photographers. Ask questions and ask them again if you feel you need to. One thing I tell our clients is that if you don't like ME or Autumn, then why would you want us at one of the most important days of your life!? There are many people that claim to be photographers but there are far less that actually provide a satisfying experience. Let's talk about budget. Most highly successful photographers tend to be a bit pricey for shooting weddings. For some, at first, that is a problem. But I sincerely want you to think about this for a minute. You may spend anywhere from $3000. to $20,000 on your living room furniture, depending on how many live in your home and how much you entertain. Some spend FAR more. Lets just say you have the desire for a little better that the cheapest furniture and you spend $7000 on a nice sofa, a couple nice chairs. End tables and a good coffee table. An area Rug that fits your style. A Television Probably a flat screen HD and a blue ray player. Now if your careful and watch for deals you can do this with $7000 if you are super careful and take a bit of a hit on quality you can possibly bring that dollar amount down some. Now lets look forward 5 years. TV is DONE rug is failing furniture is showing its age but you decide to wait and just replace the TV $1,200 and now lets jump ahead another 5 years for a total of 10 years since your initial purchase plus your 5 year TV tune up. You spent $8,200 and everything has to be replaced. Now look at a one time cost of $1,500 to $4,500 on your wedding Photography. The prints included our print packages have a shelf life of two hundred years before they begin to fade or lose color integrity. The digital files last for the foreseeable future if not forever. One of the top 3-5 days in your entire life YOUR ENTIRE LIFE mind you, captured in an artistic way that will stand the test of time and there to be handed down generation after generation to your children and grandchildren an so on... If you want to save money, cheapen up that first set of furniture (it will be replaceable) buy that economy vehicle (also replaceable) but folks, don't cut the corners so sharp when planning your wedding that you don't hire a great wedding photographer who's work you love and that you like personally after meeting them! It is an investment, yes, but it is an investment that will continue to pay back for the rest of your life with wonderful memories and crystal clear images that will stand the test of time. Autumn and I have given our lives to God and we give our hearts to our clients and provide not only beautiful images, but a headache free and worry free experience. We have been shooting weddings for five years and this will be our sixth. Over those years we have continually updated equipment and have attended classes with the worlds most sought after photographers every chance we get. When you consider your wedding photography, please, consider
